[This text is hand-written without consultation with a lawyer, so it’s very simple. But hopefully it is clear and easy to understand. If there is something you don’t see that you think should be covered, feel free to contact us.]

Here we describe how we collect, use, and handle your information when you use websites, software and services (“Services“) provided by Light For Japan Productions (“L4JP“).

Contact form submissions:

When you submit your name, email address, and message on a contact form on L4JP’s websites, we save that information so that we can remember how to contact you in the future, but we will not share it with anyone else, and we will not automatically subscribe you to any ongoing mailing lists.

Data stored in KizunaDB and/or SambiDB:

If you subscribe to one of L4JP’s database services, you will be provided with a database on a cloud-hosted server, where you can input a variety of information and upload photos, documents, and audio files. Each subscription uses a separate database with a separate internal password, so other subscribers have no access to your data.

The data you input and files you upload belong to you. Besides your own users, only those involved in development, maintenance, and testing of the database applications have access to that data. We will not give away or sell any of your data to anyone else.

We take reasonable measures to secure the databases and server overall, and we maintain backups. But each subscriber is ultimately responsible for their own data. Each subscription’s admin user(s) can choose whom they allow to access their database, and each of those users can choose their own password. L4JP has no knowledge of any passwords (they are only stored as one-way encrypted “hashes”), and although we might implement automated password strength measurements to encourage safe passwords, we are under no obligation to do so. Weak or compromised passwords can allow unauthorized access, so you are responsible for the conduct of your own users and for any lost or stolen data.

Other data:

As is normal for most websites, the server collects information that your browser sends whenever you visit a website (“Log Data”). This Log Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser type, browser version, the pages of the website that you visit, the time and date of your visit, and other generic statistics. This information is anonymous in nature and only used to maintain and improve the websites.

We also use Cookies (small data files stored in your browser when you visit a site) to log you into the Services, remember preferences and settings, keep your account secure, and better understand how people are using the Services to be able to improve them. You can set your browser to not accept cookies, but this may limit your ability to use the Services. We do not track any other activity other than your use of the Services.
